CONSERVATORY KITCHEN

This terraced house in Sheen has a small Victorian style conservatory where the kitchen and eating areas are located. The brief was to reconfigure the space and increase the amount of storage and worktop space in the kitchen whilst creating a dining area that could be used for entertaining up to 8 people. The challenge was to introduce texture and warmth to the scheme with materials that would be able to withstand the strong south-facing sun. Getting the initial design right was crucial and 3D renders helped the clients to visualise what they could achieve by building the dining area off the back of the breakfast bar. Internal alterations included a new contemporary kitchen and composite worktop whilst wood effect tiles added warmth without any danger of bleaching in the sun. The dusky pink introduced in the soft furnishings complemented the deeper greys and blues used in the tiles, paint colours and kitchen joinery. Soft lighting and bespoke bench seating (which included hidden storage) ensured that the space could be transformed in the evenings.

The design phase took 2 months whilst the work took 3 months. Project management was undertaken in tandem with the client.
